Cadillac will stop production of the CT6 sedan next monthDecember 10, 2019
The company decided to completely abandon its own model in the US market. In this regard, 814 employees will be laid off. However, the company may offer alternative jobs.
Initially, the Cadillac CT6 and its variations were supposed to leave the assembly line in June 2019. However, the company tried to give a second chance to the sedan and the legendary Chevrolet Impala model. Production, as promised, lasted until the end of 2020. In addition to the fact that one of the flagship products of General Motors will leave the market, this decision will affect more than 800 employees.
The cedilla CT6 itself was introduced back in 2016, and since then has earned a reputation as a controversial model. Many experts noted the beautiful design, but completely inappropriate technical specifications and cost. A 2.0-liter engine was installed in the base version, which is too small for a car class, and too bad for a high cost.
Later, a “charged” version of the CT6-V, equipped with a 4.2-liter engine, appeared on the market, but it was in very limited demand. Moreover, the decision to remove this sedan from the market was made even before the release of the top-end configuration. This only confirmed the Cadillac crisis information.
It is worth noting that the production of CT6 ends in America, but the car will continue to be produced and sold in China, where luxury sedans are still in demand.
