Cadillac will redefine its models.March 14, 2019
Starting in 2020, the American automaker will add a new designation to its models in the form of 3-digit digits.
Unfortunately, the new designation will not add some mystery to luxury cars, as it used to be with the Cadillac Eldorado model – the Biarritz nameplate was present on the car body. Instead, the new icons will represent a three-digit designation indicating engine torque, rounded to the nearest 50. The numbers will represent the metric torque in newton meters.
This news came from Cadillac President Steve Carlisle, who talked about the automaker headquarters relocation from New York to Detroit.
“The essence of adding additional designation for the company’s models is to create a clearer picture of the available power in an era when gasoline, hybrid and all-electric motors offer performance in various ways. For example, electric motors have a distinct advantage in the form of instantaneous torque compared to internal combustion engines. “
Under the new labeling system, brand cars will be designated, which will be assembled starting from 2020. Interestingly, the new designation will not be used in cars with a V-shaped engine. If honestly, this whole new concept of torque designation seems rather meaningless to us.
