Cadillac refuses the powerful Blackwing engineMarch 8, 2020
The head of American delirium spoke about plans for a powerful Blackwing V8 twin-turbo engine. models of the entire GM concern will no longer be equipped with this motor. Instead, all rights to use it are transferred to the Italian company MAT.
The Cadillac Blackwing V8 twin-turbo engine convincingly proves the miracle of engineering. Cadillac spent years (and money) developing a modern V8 engine, but in the end it was installed in only one car – the high-performance CT6-V sedan (pictured), which will be mass-produced this month. It was reported earlier that the V8 will drive another powerful CT5-V sedan, but Cadillac management refused.
Nevertheless, there is a faint spark of hope for the Black Wing (this is how Blackwing is translated – editorial note), as company president Steve Carlisle confirmed in his interview that the Blackwing V8 project will not be completely forgotten, instead, the engine will be installed in cars of other companies.
According to insiders, the powerful V-shaped motor will be used by the Italian brand Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT).
As part of his recent interview, MAT President Paolo Garella said that the future model of the company with a limited edition will be equipped with a high-performance Blackwing motor manufactured by Cadillac.
“We have an agreement with the American concern General Motors (it also includes Cadillac – editorial note). This is a very, very interesting engine – a 4.2-liter twin-turbocharged V8. I believe that even though it has ceased to mean a lot to Cadillac, it can still be useful to us, ”said Mr. Garella.
The use of Blackwing is confirmed by the announcement that GM has already sold all rights to use this engine to an Italian company.
