Cadillac does not plan to completely abandon the type of coupeFebruary 19, 2020
During the presentation of the new generation of the full-size SUV Cadillac Escalade, the CEO of the American automaker said that in the future a car with a coupe body could be introduced.
With 156,246 cars sold, 2019 was a success for Cadillac. And with the start of sales of a completely new generation of the full-size Escalade SUV, the brand hopes that it will maintain a strong market position through 2020. According to company executives, 2020 should bring Cadillac great popularity and big money. However, without a two-door car in the lineup – this can be a problem.
Further development of the ATS coupe model has basically marked the death of the coupe body style for the American automaker.
This may change at some point in the future, but at the moment nothing more concrete can be said. At least that’s what brand president Steve Carlisle said.
“The fashion for certain body styles changes approximately every 10 years. But with ubiquitous electrification, it’s pretty hard to talk about what will be popular next. And people will look for something new and different from what is on the current market. I am 100 percent sure of this. We will continue to explore what will be popular on the market and if cars with a coupe body are in fashion, then yes, we will have a similar model, “said Mr. Carlyle during the presentation of the new generation of the Escalade SUV.”
Although this is definitely not evidence of the new Cadillac coupe, Carlisle’s words at least leave hope for the successor to the ATS. And if we are lucky, the novelty can get a powerful Blackwing engine.
