Cadillac CT5 does not get a wagon and coupe body optionsMay 8, 2019
As part of his interview, the chief engineer of the project Cadillac CT5 said that their new product will not be represented in the coupe and wagon. Orders for a car will be accepted this fall. A bit later, a more powerful version of the CT5-V will be introduced.
American prestigious sedan Cadillac CT5 2020 model year is positioned as a compact sedan, in terms of the expected price, it can already compete with the BMW 5-Series sedan. This strategy reminds us of the second-generation CTS sedan, which had the same sales strategy and, despite its increased price compared to its competitors, the car enjoyed quite high popularity.
While, the CTS model was produced in a sedan, coupe and station wagon, the new CT5 sedan, apparently, will be offered only as a sedan.
“With regard to the additional body styles of our new sedan, we cannot announce anything right now,” said Mike Bride, chief engineer of the CT5 project in a recent interview. I note that in fact, the new Cadillac CT5 received a body type liftback.
Reliable sources in the American concern GM, which includes Cadillac, have confirmed that the CT5 sedan will not be offered in either the coupe or the station wagon. This means that without the two-door performance of the CT5 and the ATS model, the Cadillac will remain without a coupe in its range.
Cadillac CT5, which is based on the platform Alpha, boasts a large amount of space in the “trunk” and a folding rear seat (60/40), which certainly will be enough for most people. The new CT5 will be available for order this fall. High-performance CT5-V may appear a little later.
