Cadillac began taking orders for a model that will kill in six monthsJanuary 15, 2019
The brand will release only 275 Cadillac CT6-V sedans – and cease production.
The Cadillac brand began taking orders for the 550-hp CT6-V sedan. But those who want to hurry: in June, the production of the entire CT6 family will be discontinued.
The Cadillac CT6 Sedan has been produced since 2015, and sales started in Russia last year. Its flagship modification CT6-V was presented last spring at the New York Auto Show.
The main feature of the car is an exclusive motor for it. This is the first Cadillac V8 unit with two turbines: the 4.2-liter engine is equipped with dual intercoolers, a system for shutting off part of the cylinders and a lubrication system with an electric pump. The engine recoil is 557 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. On the CT6-V, the engine is combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Big sport sedan will be the most expensive car in the Cadillac lineup – its prices in the USA start at 88,790 dollars. Prices for the usual CT6 start at 50,495 dollars
But the plans for the year 2019 is the release of only 275 “charged” sedans for the US market. After that, its release will be minimized along with the other versions of the CT6 model. This will turn the Cadillac CT6-V into one of the most exclusive cars in the modern history of the American automobile industry.
The reasons are in the global restructuring of the concern General Motors: it implies the closure of the Detroit-Hamtramck plant, which produces this model, and four other enterprises in the United States and Canada. The Detroit factory will cease operation on June 1, 2019.
