Budget Baojun RC-5 liftback introducedApril 15, 2020
The car is a joint development of the American concern General Motors and the Chinese SAIC.
On Wednesday, April 15, the Baojun RC-5 was presented, which is seen as a direct competitor for the Czech liftback Skoda Octavia. The machine is based on a modern modular platform – its dimensions are 4650x1806x1458 mm with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. Buyers will be offered the only option of the power plant – it will be a 1.5-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 147 hp.
The engine works in tandem with a 6-speed manual transmission or CVT, depending on the selected equipment. Four-wheel drive is not even an option. We note the high efficiency of the power plant – for a 100 km path in a combined cycle, only 6.2 liters of gasoline will be required.
In the basic version, the novelty will receive a stability control system, ABS, 2 airbags and rear parking sensors. But the maximum configuration will pleasantly surprise, especially considering the budget status of the car.
Buying this version, customers will be able to rely on climate control, a virtual dashboard, all-round cameras, a leather interior, a panoramic roof, and even on the management of car systems via a smartphone. The new Baojun RC-5 will go on sale this summer. The preliminary cost of the basic version is 63,800 yuan
