Briton unofficially set a new speed record on the tractorJune 25, 2019
Apparently, the Top Gear laurels do not give rest to producers of agricultural machinery and extreme pilots. Last year, the rider Stig set a speed record on a tractor at 140 km / h, but now this bar has been raised to 167 km / h by Guy Martin. True record in the Guinness book will not appear.
A new video has appeared in YouTube, featuring a new tractor, the JCB Fastrac, accelerated to an incredible speed of 167 km / h. At least this speed is reported in the video. The fact is that the new record was not recorded by official representatives, and there will not be a new entry in the Guinness Book of Records. In the meantime, the championship remains with the Top Gear team and their faceless rider Stig (140 km / h on the tractor).
Behind the wheel of a crazy tractor was a famous mechanic, motorcycle racer and TV presenter Guy Martin. The JCB Fastrac serial tractor acted as a sports car. As a power unit it has a 7.2-liter diesel engine, capable of developing about 1,000 horsepower and 2,500 Nm of torque.
Of course, the factory modification is not able to accelerate to such speeds. Therefore, Martin decided to cooperate with the engineers from Williams Advanced Engineering. As part of the improvements has been improved aerodynamics of the tractor. Also, the guys worked on a significant weight loss.
Details have not yet been disclosed, but the company JCB promised soon to release a small documentary film, which will tell some details, and show other company records.
