British Ginetta will release carbon 600-strong supercarJanuary 30, 2019
In March, at the Geneva Motor Show, there will be a premiere of the new Ginetta road supercar with an ultralight construction and an atmospheric V8 engine.
The British company Ginetta has published the first teasers of its new road model – a carbon supercar with an engine capacity of over 600 horsepower. The public premiere of the car will be held in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
The coupe will be based on a tubular chassis made of composite materials and a fully carbon body, so that the weight of the car should not exceed 1200 kilograms. The novelty will be equipped with a compact and lightweight six-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, developed exclusively by Ginetta’s own efforts. The engine will be paired with sequential gearbox.
The G60 lightweight sports car, introduced in 2013, was the last car of Ginetta. The 1080 kg carbon coupe was equipped with a 3.7-liter V6 engine from the Ford Mustang with a capacity of 314 horsepower. Ginetta G60 is able to accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in 4.9 seconds, and its maximum speed is 265 km per hour.
At the moment, the company’s autosport division is looking for partners with whom Ginetta could compete at the World Endurance Racing Championship (WEC) on its sport model G60-LT-P1 AER in the highest category LMP1. Last year, this car took part in the 24-hour Le Mans daily marathon, but Ginetta was forced to skip the next stages due to lack of funding.
