Lotus plans to create a completely new automotive architecture that will form the basis of the next generation of electric vehicles.
At the same time, this project will be financed by the British authorities, the press center of the brand informs on Saturday, October 3. Recall that earlier Lotus won the tender for state support in the development of a new lightweight automotive platform.
Although the British automaker did not disclose the technical characteristics of the new product, it is already known that the brand is planning to create a whole line of sports cars on the new platform, which will be much cheaper than the Evija electric hypercar.
The Evija, which debuted last year, became the most productive and expensive car in the history of the British brand, featuring four electric motors with a combined output of 2,000 hp. (1700 Nm). The hypercar can accelerate to 100 km / h in less than 3 seconds and accelerate to a maximum of 320 km / h. The cost of such a car starts at 1.7 million pounds
In addition, recently, spy photos of a disguised Lotus Esprit were circulated on the Internet. The model is expected to receive a V6 hybrid powertrain from Japanese automaker Toyota.
