Brandon Hartley: I tried on the Porsche uniform againApril 19, 2019
We talked about the first tests of the Formula E car, which the Porsche team experienced for two days at the Calafat circuit in Catalonia.
Neil Yani and Brandon Hartley worked in Formula 1 for Toro Rosso last year with the new racing electric car, but now he has returned to the Porsche Motorsport team as a factory rider and test pilot.
“This week I tried on the Porsche uniform again,” commented the New Zealander. – My duties as a test pilot and development driver include participation in the Formula E program: we are preparing for the sixth season of the world championship in electric vehicle racing, and my main task is to work on the simulator in Vaisakh.
Tests – the experience is both interesting and difficult. Of course, I like to fly on a real track, but I also have to say that working with a group of talented Porsche specialists on this project is a real pleasure. For the first time to get behind the wheel of a Formula E car and check what it really is capable of, it was fun, but no less I was glad to meet many familiar people. “
Since 2014, Brandon Hartley has been a Porsche factory racer, has competed in the WEC Championship and won the title with his team mates twice in 2015 and 2017. After the closure of this program, he signed a contract with Toro Rosso and spent 25 Grand Prix in total, but at the end of the 2018 season it became known that they decided to refuse his services in the team.
