Brand new Mercedes GLC PHEV revealed in spy photosJune 24, 2021
Mercedes is preparing the next-generation GLC-Class crossover, which will come with various powertrains under the hood. One of them will be a plug-in hybrid. The appearance of new items is not expected until the 2023 model year.
The hybrid novelty is now being actively tested. One of these races of the next-generation GLC-Class crossover in the PHEV version is captured in spy photos published by Motor.es. In the pictures we see a SUV, which is similar to those test cars that we have seen so far, but what is important here is what is under the hood.
The GLC lineup already has a PHEV option and is expected to continue with the next generation, with the GLC PHEV receiving a modest update for the 2020 model year. This is a rechargeable battery, whose capacity has grown from 8.7 kilowatt-hours to 13.5, as well as a new 7.5 kW on-board charger, which doubled the power reserve on one electricity to almost 50 kilometers.
With the change of generation, both of these indicators can get even better. The current GLC PHEV gets a 315-horsepower hybrid.
The exterior of the new GLC PHEV makes it difficult to see the camouflage. It is not much different from those cars that were shown in earlier spy shots.
The PHEV is expected to have the same design as the rest of the lineup, with a few exclusive PHEV tunings and features. Spy shots show fuel and charging hatches on both rear fenders. The refreshed GLC should debut in the 2022 model year, although the PHEV variant will likely have to wait until the 2023 model year.
The abundance of disguise hints that we won’t see a fully production GLC PHEV for a few more months. The new GLC looks slightly larger than the previous model as it is based on a different modular platform that helps reduce the weight of the vehicle, which has been affected by the added technology.
Meanwhile, Peugeot has officially presented the new Peugeot 308 station wagon. The novelty has received a refreshed appearance, has grown a little and can offer buyers in Europe a rich motor range.
