BMW’s new electric crossover will receive the name iXNovember 14, 2019
In the meantime, the German automaker continues to test the prototype of its future news on public roads.
BMW is going to bring to market its new flagship model, which, according to preliminary data, should have been called iNext. Later, the brand decided to slightly shorten the name of the new electrocross to iX. In this version, it is consistent with other names of the brand’s electrified models – existing i3 and i8 and future iX3 and i4. The iX5 was also called as a possible name for the new product, but this could be a problem if the brand in the future was going to offer customers an electrified modification of the X5 crossover. After the name iX, according to tradition, the manufacturer will set the output power.
In spy photos, the test BMW iX looks like it’s ready to get on the conveyor already tomorrow. The novelty received a traditional body shape with a vertical grille and smooth headlights for the Bavarian brand. Due to camouflage film, it is not possible to consider the cross in more detail.
Earlier, photos of the iX salon, captured by the paparazzi, leaked to the Network. The most noticeable detail of the interior here was a curved multifunction display, which occupies a prominent place on the dashboard. Apart from spy shots and the alleged name, nothing is known about the BMW iX. The manufacturer carefully hides the specifications of the future news.
On sale, a new electrocross, according to forecasts by auto experts, may appear in 2021.
