BMW X3 M40i and X4 M40i get more power in the USDecember 9, 2019
Announcing earlier this year that the company will increase its M550i capacity, BMW USA is now launching two additional 2020 M Performance models.
Journalists from Motor Authority learned from BMW spokesman Oleg Satanovsky that the X3 M40i and X4 M40i are being upgraded from 355 horsepower to a powerful 382 hp. Additional 27 h.p. were disclosed after tuning the engine control, increasing the boost pressure and making changes to the exhaust system.
The torque offered by the sporty crossovers in the M40i versions is 500 Nm from the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine.
It is important to note that a stronger engine and some minor changes in equipment affected the starting prices for both BMW crossovers, which will cost $ 1,250 and $ 550 more than before for the X3 M40i and X4 M40i, respectively. These models are already listed in the official configurator of the company and cost from 55,900 to 61,000 US dollars to 995 US dollars.
BMW is preparing another change for its compact crossovers, in preparation for the release of the iX3, an all-electric version of the X3. It is assumed that a zero-emission SAV will be released in 2020 and will arrive in the United States only with a rear-wheel drive layout and nicknamed “sDrive75,” where “75” stands for a 75 kWh battery.
