BMW X3 M and X4 M received 610-horsepower enginesDecember 4, 2019
More power, louder exhaust.
As BMW expects the X3 M to become the best-selling M car in the world, it is not surprising that tuning companies are already working on an improved version of the SUV. The Swiss company Dahler has released a comprehensive package that includes an upgraded engine and visual updates not only for the X3 M, but also for the X4 M.
The upgraded crossover was described as “strong as a grizzly bear, practical but elegant.” The Bavarian blower received a modified 3.0-liter turbocharged engine, which in the standard produces 480 horsepower and 600 Newton meters.
The Dahler package, tested for compliance with WLTP standards and homologated in the EU, increases these figures to 610 hp. and 760 Nm. For those who live in Germany and use sections of the autobahn daily, the removed maximum speed limiter is also likely to be warmly welcome. Dahler promises even better performance in the new Stage 2 kit, which is currently under development.
The new X3 M and X4 M also received a high-performance stainless steel exhaust system that has been optimized for “perfect” performance with factory installed gasoline particulate filters. Off-road vehicles have a lowered suspension with precise calibration to “reduce sensitivity to crosswinds and improve appearance”. 21-inch and 22-inch wheel sets are available.
All of the above have already gone on sale, and Dahler, meanwhile, is developing a suspension kit that is adjustable in height and stiffness, as well as visual enhancements such as the new front bumper.
