Bavarian studio Alpina introduced the diesel crossover XD3, built on the basis of the new generation BMW X3. The car received an upgraded inline six-cylinder engine, a new suspension and a special mode of operation of the all-wheel drive. Sales of the “charged” all-terrain vehicle will begin in the second quarter of this year.
The power of the standard twin-turbo engine in Aplina was increased from 249 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque to 333 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The acceleration time to 100 km/h at the same time improved by 0.9 seconds – to 4.9. The maximum speed of XD3 is 254 kilometers per hour. The fuel consumption in the WLTP cycle is nine liters per 100 kilometers.
The list of equipment Alpina XD3 includes electronically controlled dampers, limited slip differential in the rear axle, 20- or optional 22-inch wheels, as well as special settings for the all-wheel drive system xDrive. In particular, the modified algorithm for the distribution of the moment between the axes.
In September last year, Alpina introduced the 5 Series D5 S, equipped with a diesel engine with three consecutive turbines. The return of the three-liter inline six-cylinder engine was 388 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. From zero to 100 kilometers per hour the sedan is accelerated in 4.4 seconds. A touring with the same engine needs 4.6 seconds to do this.
