BMW will release its smallest crossoverJuly 26, 2019
BMW began developing a new compact crossover, reports AutoExpress. It is expected that this will be the smallest and cheapest SUV in the line of the Bavarian brand, which now has seven models. According to unofficial data, the car will be named Urban X. Audi Q2 will become the main competitor of the novelty. The exact date of the premiere of the car is still unknown.
In the model range, the crossover will take place one step below the X2, which is currently the most compact SUV (length 4360 mm) from BMW. The length of the machine will be slightly more than four meters. The novelty will be built on the platform UKL2. The same chassis is already using the BMW 1-Series, 2-Series, X1 and Mini family. The crossover can be purchased with both front and all-wheel drive.
In addition to gasoline and diesel engines, the car will receive a hybrid version. The structure of the power plant of such a modification will include a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. The total power of the crossover will be 224 horsepower. An electric version of the Urban X is also expected. An environmentally-friendly crossover can travel about 400 kilometers without recharging.
Another BMW crossover – iNext – will be presented in 2021. This new product will receive an electric power plant with a capacity of up to 800 horsepower. The power reserve of the crossover will vary depending on the version. Without recharging, the novelty will be able to travel from 450 to 700 km.
Total by 2025, BMW plans to release 25 serial electrified models. Of these, 12 will be equipped with all-electric power plants.
