BMW will release a crossover X8May 18, 2018
The future novelty can become the most expensive model in the line of the Bavarian brand.
The new BMW X8 will be presented in a compartmentalized design as an opponent to the Range Rover models and the upcoming Audi Q8. The top versions of the X8 will compete with the basic performances of Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus and Rolls-Royce Cullinan. The Bavarian manufacturer began registering the X8 trademark in various markets around the world from 2018 – the last one was the Far East market.
The head of development BMW Klaus Frohlich did not confirm the company’s intention to enter the higher price segment with X8, but confirmed that the company is evaluating the possibility of issuing such a model and the probability of its approval is high.
In addition, two versions of the model implementation are considered. The standard path is a coupe-like variation of the X7 by analogy with younger models, such as X5 and X6, X3 and X4. The second option is a more spacious car in comparison with the X7 with an elongated wheelbase and a direct roof.
In any case, the X8 will have a four- or five-seat layout, while the X7 will have three rows of seats and seven seats. The emphasis will be placed on the luxurious comfort of second-row passengers.
By the way, the dimensions of the BMW X7, in comparison with competitors, provide the possibility of producing a longer version. The “Bavarian” length is 5 020 mm and the wheelbase is 3,010 mm, the Mercedes-Benz GLS has a length of 5,131 mm, and the wheelbase is 3,076 mm. The standard version of the Range Rover is 4,999 and 2,922 mm, respectively.
Recall, the public premiere of the serial BMW X7 will be held this autumn. “Live” sales of new items are likely to begin next year.
