The German brand is preparing new electric cars, including the iX3, iNext and i4. The presentation of all three electric vehicles will take place before the end of 2021, but in the future a larger number of electric models may come out.
Currently, there is little information about the plans of the automaker for the period after 2022, however, a fresh report from the brand provides for the appearance in the Bavarian brand line of an all-electric i6 model that will compete with the Audi e-tron GT, Mercedes EQS and Porsche Taycan.
Autoblog agency notes that the i6 will appear in 2024 and will become a stylish electric car that will inherit part of the design decisions from the 8-Series Gran Coupe. Therefore, the i6 will be a 4-door coupe, which is reasonable given the competition of the upcoming new model.
According to press reports, the standard i6 will receive two electric power units. The motor, which will be located on the front axle, will develop approximately 200 hp, and on the rear – approximately 335 hp So, the total performance of the new product will be 535 hp, and it will also receive four-wheel drive.
In addition, the output of the M Performance variation is allowed, which will also have 2 electric motors with a return of 335 hp each.
Speaking of batteries, the BMW i6 will offer two battery options. As follows from the report, a standard battery with a capacity of 90 kW / h will provide a range of 560 km in the WLTP cycle, and a more efficient battery at 120 kW / h – 700 km.
