BMW will introduce a new generation of 3-Series on October 2September 26, 2018
It is safe to say that the official presentation of the updated compact sedan BMW 3-Series will be one of the most significant events of the Paris Motor Show 2018. The official teaser image of the novelty appeared on the Internet about a week ago, and not who did not know how it leaked from the office of the company .
Today, September 26, the press service of the German automaker published a teaser, which is supplemented by a message that the long-awaited presentation of the updated family of BMW 3-Series is scheduled for October 2. And the venue for the show was the Paris Motor Show 2018.
As we said last week, we are inclined to believe that the sedan of the new 3-Series (G20 index) that hides under the translucent coverlet is nothing more than a more powerful version of the M340i.
Under the hood of the car will be the newest in-line 6-cylinder 3.3-liter turbocharged engine, designed for a maximum power of 360-370 horsepower. Most likely, the car will receive only the rear drive, although it is possible and the availability of the all-wheel drive system xDrive, which will naturally be offered as a separately paid option. As a standard equipment is available 8-speed automatic transmission.
With a confirmed drag coefficient of just 0.23, the updated 3-Series sedan will be a car with one of the most aerodynamic well-designed bodies. Such a low coefficient will naturally have a positive effect on fuel consumption. By the way, the expense will also be reduced due to the fact that the car lost weight in weight of 55 kilograms – although of course not all versions of the novelty will be able to boast of this.
In recent weeks, official details began to appear about the new BMW 3-Series sedan – in particular, it became known that the car will receive a wider track, as well as a sports suspension, which will reduce the ground clearance by 10 mm. One of the versions of the novelty will have the most powerful 4-cylinder engine BMW, in addition, the rigidity of the body and suspension has been significantly increased. The sedan will also receive an ideal 50:50 weight distribution.
