BMW will develop a gyroscopic cup holder
November 29, 2019The list of ideas for future BMW cars has a special gyroscopic cup holder that will not allow drinks to spill during shocks and sharp turns. About this edition CarsGuide told the designer of the concept electric car BMW Vision M Next Jose Alberto Casas Pena.
The idea of a “cup holder of the future” is a special stabilizer on a universal joint that will respond to a change in angle, leaning in the opposite direction during sharp turns and body rolls.
Earlier, a new sound was demonstrated at the BMW Vision M Next concept car for the future green cars of the Bavarian brand. Special sounds were written by German film composer Hans Zimmer, known for his music for Hollywood films and cartoons (Rain Man, The Beginning, The Lion King).
Zimmer worked with BMW sound designer and acoustic specialist Renzo Vitale. Together they recorded sounds for accelerating and braking the car, as well as for the responses of the infotainment system. The project, dubbed BMW IconicSounds Electric, aims to give motorists “the opportunity to enjoy driving with all their senses.”
