BMW will build only 2.2 thousand coupe M2 CSJune 11, 2020
A few weeks ago it became known that the production of the current BMW M2 for the European market should end this fall, although it is likely that the United States and other markets will overtake the same.
This applies to both M2 and the more “hardcore” M2 CS. Due to the fact that deliveries of the latter are planned at the beginning of this year, the automaker has not yet announced the distribution of the market. A total of 2,200 BMW M2 CSs will be assembled, making it collectible.
From reliable sources it became known that only 400 units will arrive in the United States, which is 100 units less than the originally planned figure. And although there has not yet been an official statement from BMW, it is probably too late for those who wish to make an order.
Powered by the familiar 3.0-liter turbocharged S55 Twin-Turbo engine, also under the hood of the outgoing BMW M3 and M4, the M2 CS produces a total of 444 horsepower and 406 Nm of torque, which is 39 hp. more than M2 Competition. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels using either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an alternative 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Other standard features include adaptive M-suspension, carbon fiber-reinforced external components, glossy black painted 19-inch wheels, and M-brakes. The CS is lightweight and easy to operate, but in recent years, CS models have become a harbinger of mass production, as happened with the CS versions for the M3 and M4.
For CS, you can optionally select larger carbon-ceramic brakes, beautiful gold matte wheels and Michelin Cup 2 Performance tires. BMW has reduced weight by installing several carbon fiber body elements such as a roof, hood, splitter, spoiler, rear diffuser and side mirror housings.
