BMW unveils 2-Series Gran Coupe sedanOctober 16, 2019
BMW has unveiled a new four-door sedan called the 2-Series Gran Coupe. The public debut of the car is expected at the Los Angeles Auto Show in the second half of November. Global sales of new items are scheduled for March 2020, the press service of the German brand. The main competitor of the car is called the Mercedes-Benz CLA.
A version of the BMW 218i Gran Coupe Online Edition is also available on the market, which can be purchased only upon prepayment on the official website of the German brand. The model has a fixed configuration. The machine is equipped with 17-inch wheels, heated sports seats, adaptive LED headlights and a Hi-Fi audio system. Also, a parking assistance system is available to the driver.
The sedan was built on a front-wheel drive platform with a transverse FAAR engine, which the BMW 1-Series also already uses. The sedan is 4,526 mm long and 1,800 millimeters wide. The size of the wheelbase is 2670 millimeters. The luggage compartment of the 2-Series Gran Coupe is 430 liters. In this case, the back of the rear sofa can be folded in proportions 40:20:40.
The design of the car resembles the M235i. The 2-Series Gran Coupe received slim LED headlights, aggressive bumpers, a spoiler and large air intakes. The car can be equipped with rims with a diameter of 16 to 19 inches. In the interior of the novelty, a digital dashboard and a large touch screen display of the multimedia system are installed.
The 2-Series Gran Coupe is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with three cylinders. The power of the unit is 140 horsepower. The engine works in conjunction with a 7-speed Steptronic robot. Also, customers will be offered a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine with a return of 306 horsepower. This unit works together with an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. Acceleration to hundreds of such a sedan takes 4.9 seconds, and with the M Performance package – 4.8 seconds.
In other countries, the 2-Series Gran Coupe is also offered with a 2.0-liter diesel engine rated at 190 horsepower. In the United States, a version of the BMW 228i xDrive (231 hp) will be sold with a two-liter turbo engine and four-wheel drive. Three suspension options are available for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: standard, M Sport (with 10 mm less ground clearance) and adaptive suspension (with two stiffness options: Comfort and Sport). The M Sport steering and the M Sport brake system are available as an option.
The cost of a stylish compact sedan for sale in the amount of 31,950 euros for the BMW 218i, as well as the updated version of the BMW M235i xDrive was estimated at 51,900 euros.
