BMW talked about the new 2-Series version of the Gran CoupeFebruary 28, 2019
The Bavarian novelty with four doors and a coupe body will receive a full drive and a powerful 300 hp engine.
Earlier this month, we watched the testing of one of the new BMW models – the M235i Gran Coupe, which will be a slightly more powerful performance of the standard model. The premiere of this car is scheduled for the end of this year. According to new data, a small 4-door coupe will be sold exclusively with all-wheel drive in the United States.
Our colleagues also claim that the car will debut later this year as a 4-door coupe 2020 model year.
Referring to “own sources in Munich”, the site BMW Blog reports that only four-wheel drive versions of the stylish compact car will be provided to the American market, at least at the initial stage. The novelty will be based on a new FWD platform (front-wheel drive).
It is possible that the official presentation may be held at the Frankfurt Motor Show (Germany) in September. We have already seen several new prototype models with fully standard bodies that are tested on public roads, which really hints at an early debut.
It is known that the flagship version of the M235i will get the same engine as the X2 M35i crossover. This is a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 302 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Combined with the Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission, the engine will transmit power to all four wheels thanks to the BMW xDrive system with a front axle torque vector. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h will take less than five seconds.
