The plug-in hybrid provides 394 power and 600 Nm of torque.
BMW has revealed details about the hybrid versions of the updated sedan 7 series. The flagship model with a gasoline-electric power plant has received three versions: the base 745e, the “stretched” 745Le and the all-wheel drive 745Le xDrive.
The basis of the power plant of the plug-in hybrids was an adapted three-liter petrol “six” of the EfficientDynamics family, delivering 286 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. A 113-horsepower electric motor with a peak torque of 265 Nm and powered by a 12-kilowatt-hour battery pack is integrated into an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. In sports mode, the total recoil is 394 power and 600 Nm of torque.
From zero to 100 kilometers per hour, the BMW 745e accelerates in 5.2 seconds, the 745Le – 5.3 seconds, and the 745Le xDrive – in 5.1 seconds. The maximum speed of sedans is limited at around 250 kilometers per hour.
In the hybrid driving mode, the BMW 7 Series can only accelerate to 110 kilometers per hour, which is 20 more than its predecessor. In full electric mode, the limiter shifts to 140 kilometers per hour. Depending on the modification from the full battery, the 7 Series rides on electric from 50 to 58 kilometers. The fuel consumption of sedans in the combined cycle is on average 2.3 liters per 100 kilometers.
The power plant operates in several modes: hybrid, when the optimal interaction of the internal combustion engine and the electric motor is selected, fully electric, sports – the electric motor acts as an assistant of the internal combustion engine, adaptive and the so-called Battery Control. In the latter, the system maintains the battery level set by the driver.
As an option for the hybrid 7 Series, Pure Excellence and M sports packages are available, as well as all assistance systems and suspension options, as in the usual 7 series. This summer, hybrid owners will be offered new digital services. For example, navigating when choosing a route to a public charging station, will offer a list of nearby hotels, restaurants, and attractions. With the help of a multimedia system, it will also be possible to book a charging terminal for a specific time.
