The Bavarian compact crossover with a plug-in hybrid engine can travel 56 km in pure electric mode. The three-cylinder turbo engine and electric motor can accelerate the novelty to 100 km / h in 6.8 seconds.

BMW introduced the electrified version of the X1 crossover in September 2019 – the car was equipped with a plug-in hybrid engine. The new version of the car received the designation xDrive25e. Now, the turn has reached the sister X2 – the same version of xDrive25e is available for him.

In addition to the fact that there is an additional “gas tank” hatch on the front left wing that hides the charging port, and there is a special nameplate in the back of the car, you cannot say for sure that this is a plug-in hybrid version of the car.

Under the hood of the car is a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine with three cylinders, the power of which is 123 horsepower (220 Nm). The crossover received a front-wheel drive that works with a six-speed Steptronic gearbox.

The internal combustion engine is connected to an electric motor that produces an additional 94 hp. power and 165 Nm of torque. The electric motor is connected to the rear axle, so the X2 xDrive25e crossover boasts all-wheel drive. The smart compact crossover can also temporarily work only on electricity – a 10 kW * h lithium-ion battery pack is installed, providing a range of 57 km or more.

The total power of the plug-in hybrid powerplant is 217 hp. The car spends 6.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h, and its maximum speed is 195 km / h. When using a purely electric mode, the maximum speed drops to 135 km / h. A full charge takes about five hours, while recharging the battery to 80% will take a little less than four hours.
