BMW has published a teaser video showing the 3-Series of the next generation. The public premiere of the novelty will be held in early October within the framework of the Paris Motor Show. The main competitors of the car will be Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4.
The video shows the process of production of the new BMW 3-Series in the factory. The car will be built on the CLAR platform and will be equipped with a completely redesigned suspension. The center of gravity of the new car in comparison with the predecessor will decrease by 10 mm, the coefficient of aerodynamic resistance – 0.23.
The line of engines will include three-liter petrol and diesel engines with a power of 360 and 320 hp. respectively, and a turbo four, which develops about 300 horsepower. Subsequently, the model will have a hybrid version and a modification with a fully electric power plant.
The weight of the BMW 3-Series will be reduced by 55 kg, but the strength of the bodywork and suspension will increase by 15-20%. The sedan will be the first serial BMW with special “smart” shock absorbers, which “continuously and steadily work in accordance with the course of the spring”.
Car sales in Europe are likely to start only next year.
