BMW registered the name of the electric Rolls-Royce?September 29, 2020
The company came up with the name Silent Shadow
The BMW concern, which, among other things, owns the Rolls-Royce brand, has registered the model name Silent Shadow. The last word is classic for the names of Rolls-Royce cars, for example Silver Shadow – “Silver shadow”. And the word Silent means silence.
Thus, Silent Shadow is the perfect name for Rolls-Royce’s first electric car, which reflects on the one hand loyalty to tradition, and on the other handles the low noise level of electric vehicles relative to cars with internal combustion engines.
As we recently wrote, the management of the British brand has officially promised to release the first all-electric model before the end of the decade. At the same time, the company emphasizes that they do not consider the transition to electric traction to be a rejection of traditions, since it is the electric drive that provides the smoothest traction and low noise, for which Rolls-Royce customers have always appreciated.
So far, there have been conflicting reports of what the first all-electric Rolls-Royce will be. According to some reports, BMW will install an electric drive about the future electric 7-Series sedan on the existing Phantom and Cullinan models. On the other hand, these will be models developed from scratch.
