The head of the BMW M division, Marcus Flash, announced on his Instagram the premiere of the next-generation M3 sedan and M4 coupe: both new items will debut in September 2020.
As the head of the BMW M division, Markus Flash, said in his Instagram account, answering questions from fans of the Bavarian brand, BMW will present the new generation M3 and M4 in three months – the premiere of both new products will be held in September. He also confirmed that the “charged” sedan and coupe will be available with both an eight-speed automatic and a six-speed manual gearbox. Moreover, the M3 and M4 will receive both all-wheel drive transmission and rear-wheel drive, however, it was previously reported that the manual gearbox are likely to be available only with rear-wheel drive.
The new generation BMW M3 and M4 will borrow the engine from the X3 M and X4 M crossovers – this is an in-line turbo six with a capacity of 480 horsepower in the base version and 510 horsepower in the Competition modification. It is likely that in the model line later there will appear lightweight extreme versions of the M3 CS and M4 CS, released in a limited edition. Production of a new sedan and coupe should start in November this year, and the start of deliveries is scheduled for early 2021. Later, the M4 Convertible convertible and, possibly, the M4 Gran Coupe sedan will be added to the family.
