BMW presented a four-door version of the revived 8 SeriesMarch 7, 2018
BMW Company showed at the Geneva Motor Show concept car M8 Gran Coupe, designed to give an idea of the four-door modification of the revived 8-Series model. In a series of a similar car will be launched next year.
Four-door has borrowed the basic stylistic elements from the prototype of the 8-Series coupe, presented in May last year. In addition, she received trapezoidal daytime running lights, like the racing car M8 GTE. Other distinctive features were aggressive bodywork elements, large wheel rims, nozzles of the gold exhaust system, as well as air ducts made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
The specifications of the M8 Gran Coupe are not called. As previously reported, the revived 8-Series will be built on the scalable architecture of CLAR, which already underlies the “five” and “seven”. This architecture involves the installation of a variety of engines – from a two-liter “fours” to a 6.6-liter 12-cylinder unit.
The serial version of the BMW M8 Gran Coupe can get a 4.4-liter Biturbo motor V8, an eight-speed automatic transmission ZF and an all-wheel drive system. A similar engine should be used on the “charged” version of the “eight” – M8, where its output will exceed 600 horsepower. Such a car can accelerate from place to “hundred” in less than three seconds.
As expected, the premiere of the serial 8-Series will take place this summer. The most popular modifications will be offered with six- and eight-cylinder engines, which are now available for the 5-Series and 7-Series. In addition, the line of engines will include a three-liter diesel with four turbines producing 400 horsepower.
