BMW plans to bypass Mercedes-Benz by 2020January 23, 2018
The company BMW said that it intends to bypass the sales of Mercedes-Benz in the next two years – the Bavarians have long been leaders in the premium, but in recent years, Mercedes-Benz came in first place.
Nevertheless, BMW is convinced that they will be able to close the gap, thanks to a careful analysis of competitors and a new promotion program in the market, including the release of new models and the “interception” of sales from other brands.
“In 2020, we will be number one in the number of cars sold,” said BMW CEO Harald Kruger to the German monthly Manager Magazin. – I set this goal as the main one for my team, although this is a very difficult task. It is not enough just to sell more than all. Being a quality leader, number one for customer satisfaction is what our employees should strive for. ”
BMW was the global leader in sales of luxury cars for about 10 years, but in 2016, Mercedes-Benz managed to bypass the Bavarians because of the strong demand for their crossovers and the popularity of the A-Class hatchback, bypassed the BMW 1 Series. Last year, BMW increased sales by 4.2% – to 2.09 million cars and SUV, but Mercedes-Benz’s growth was 9.9% – to 2.29 million units.
In addition, BMW can improve the situation in the market through the release of the new flagship SUV X7. The debut of the serial version of the crossover is planned for the end of this year.
