BMW patented the image of the 8 Series Gran CoupeJune 20, 2018
In addition to the large 4-door Coupe Gran Coupe, the Bavarian automaker also filed an application for registration in the patent agency, another representative of the new flagship family, the 8 Series – this is a 2-door convertible.
There was information that the German automaker – the company BMW, registered in the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property images of the 4-door coupe 8 Series Gran Coupe, and versions with an open top.
BMW showed a conceptual version of the charged M8 Gran Coupe at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018 – then for the first time we saw what a four-door representative of a completely new family would look like. Patent images of this car make it clear that the German brand is going to soon launch a mass production of this car.
Occupying 4,856 mm in length, the new 8 Series Coupe is closer in size to the 5 Series (4,942 mm) than to the 7 Series (5,247 mm). Thus, in the current model range of the Bavarian automaker, the new 8-Series Gran Coupe will take the place of the old 6th Gran Coupe series.
The large Gran Coupe is likely to share engines with a 2-door analog. It is known that at the start, the new model will be available with a 4.4-liter V8 biturbo, whose power is 523 hp, and the maximum torque – 750 Nm. Also it will be possible to choose a 3.0-liter in-line motor with 6 cylinders of biturbo power of 315 hp (680 Nm). Spy images confirm that the development of the M8 coupe is underway and probably this car can get a more powerful version of the 4.4-liter biturbo V8 from the charged M5 – the power will be 617 hp (The ceiling of torque is 750 Nm).
Finally we want to note that while there is no official data on when the official presentation of the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and Convertible can take place.
In the meantime, a couple of hours ago there were photos of the BMW X4 with M Performance body kit.
