BMW officially unveils the BMW Vision M Next conceptSeptember 10, 2019
The BMW Vision M NEXT gives an idea of what the electrified future of the BMW M brand might look like.
Unlike the BMW Vision iNeXT, which showed how autonomous driving will change the lives of drivers in the future, the BMW Vision M NEXT shows how digital intelligence can make autonomous driving more pure and emotional. The exterior emphasizes the proportions of a sports car, while the interior is driver-oriented.
When creating the BMW Vision M NEXT, the BMW design team used elements of the iconic BMW Turbo and the innovative BMW i8 and interpreted them in an innovative way. In line with BMW’s new design strategy, the BMW Vision M NEXT has a strong character with its sporty proportions and crisp lines.
Innovative materials have been used to create a modern, luxurious interior. The geometry is clear and restrained, individual parts are delivered simultaneously with high-quality accessories.
The design of the BMW Vision M NEXT is the result of an internal competition. BMW designers competed with each other, presenting their sketches and visualizations. Over the course of several rounds, the best projects were selected until at the end a project was selected for implementation. The process took about 18 months from the first idea to the finished machine.
“This type of implementation only works if all participants have the same goal. That’s why I’m very proud of my team, which has worked hard on the project in recent months, ”said Domagoy Ducek, head of BMW Design, during a speech in Frankfurt.
