BMW officially unveiled the new generation X6July 3, 2019
The long-awaited Bavarian coupe-like crossover makes its debut with a 523-horsepower Twin-Turbo V8 engine. In the US, prices start at $ 64,300.
The press service of the automaker has introduced a new (third in generation) generation of the BMW X6 coupe-like crossover. Judging by the official photos, the appearance of the model has become more sculptural, more powerful than ever before. The BMW X6 2020 model year is produced on the same BMW Cluster Architecture (CLAR) platform as its more traditional X5 brother.
The X6 still looks very aggressive, and even better, with fun exterior options, such as a backlit brand radiator grille.
The new platform means the emergence of new power units. The entry-level sDrive40i and xDrive40i versions will get a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 335 hp. (447 Nm). These numbers represent a slight increase of 33 hp. and 47 Nm compared with the previous version of the car. Up to 96 km / h, the sDrive model takes 5.2 seconds, and the xDrive version reaches this value in 5.3 seconds.
The more powerful X6 M50i gets a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8. This engine produces 523 hp. (750 Nm), which is 78 hp m 100 Nm more than its predecessor. The X6 M50i takes only 4.1 seconds to reach the first “hundred” (0.5 seconds faster), and it will reach a maximum speed of 249 km / h.
An 8-step “automatic” will be offered as a checkpoint. The front suspension with two wishbones and the rear suspension with five levers make the new X6 more maneuverable, and the optional Dynamic Handling package adds active roll stabilization and active steering. The first uses electric rotary engines to reduce body roll, while active steering turns the rear wheels, depending on speed and road conditions, to counteract slippage.
The xDrive40i version comes with an extra off-road package that includes a two-axle air suspension, an electronically controlled rear M Sport differential and four specially designed off-road driving modes for different landscapes: snow, sand, gravel or rocks.
X6 gets the seventh version of the virtual dashboard by 12.3 inches BMW Live Cockpit and iDrive infotainment system with a 12.3-inch screen. The standard equipment comes with the BMW Active Driving Assistant system, which is essentially a radar cruise control for stopping and driving with the function of detecting “dead” zones, warning of a frontal collision and control of the parking distance.
The base X6 sDrive40i costs at least $ 64,300. Prices for xDrive40i start at $ 66,600, but the powerful version of the M50i gets a starting price of $ 85,650.
