The Bavarian brand decided on May 9 to present the most powerful modification of the M5 – M5 Competition sedan. The novelty differs from the standard M5 with small upgrades to the exterior and interior, as well as increased engine power.

As reported in the official press release of the brand, the M5 Competition is equipped with the same bi-turbo eight with capacity of 4.4 liters with a return of 625 horsepower. This is 25 horsepower more than the engine on the standard M5, introduced last year. The torque of the engine is 750 Nm in the range from 1,800 to 5,800 rpm. Acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour for the sedan takes 3.3 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the standard M5. Up to 200 kilometers per hour, the M5 Competition takes 10.8 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds faster than the usual M5. The fuel consumption in the mixed cycle is declared at 10.8 liters per 100 kilometers.

From the visual point of view, the BMW M5 Competition differs from the standard M5 with the unique Frozen Dark Silver metallic color, the black glossy radiator grille, side glossy inserts, door handles painted in body color, black glossy mirrors, exclusive skirts, overlays for exhaust pipes (which, to word, painted in black paint), a miniature spoiler, and the M5 Competition nameplates. The car will be worn in wheels with tires 275/35 R20 in the front and 285/35 R20 from the rear, however, the same can be optionally installed on the standard BMW M5 F90.

There are changes in the running gear. BMW M5 Competition received a new front stabilizer, and the spring stiffness compared to the standard M5 springs was increased by 10%. Air suspension was also reconfigured, and in the “Sport” mode, the shock absorbers provide an excellent level of grip on such tracks as the Nürburgring.

There are changes in the cabin: so there were safety belts, M5 Competition plates, and also inserts from carbon.

In the US, the BMW M5 Competition is valued at $ 110,995. The standard M5 is sold at a price of $ 103,595.

Competitive novelty will be primarily with the Audi RS7 and Mercedes-AMG E 63 S.

Earlier, we were informed that more than 700 hp were “pumped” into the Mercedes-AMG E 63 Estate.
