BMW M3 and M4 will be equipped with new enginesMarch 19, 2019
The Bavarian concern is preparing to bring the updated modifications of the “charged” models with the S58 index, which will become significantly more powerful, and “a little” more expensive. The company is expected to introduce a heavily revised B58 engine.
Next year, BMW will present new modifications of the “charged” models M3 and M4. A feature of the versions with the S58 index will be a more powerful six-cylinder bit-turbo inline engine. While the cost of new items is unknown, but the technical characteristics of the deeply modified B58 engine.
Autocar.co.uk, citing an unknown source, said that the power unit will be 11% more powerful. Thus, the power of the new M4 and M3 will approach the mark of 480 horsepower, and the version with the Power Pack Competition can get up to 509 horsepower. Torque, approximately, will rise to 600 Nm.
Unfortunately, the dynamic characteristics are not yet known. But when paired with the engine, the automatic transmission will most likely work with the classic torque converter.
The company will not forget about the xDrive brand four-wheel drive with M-Dynamic mode and drift mode (switching all the torque to the rear axle).
