BMW launches first BMW X5 M Competition and X6 M CompetitionOctober 20, 2020
BMW has just unveiled the first commercial examples of the X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition crossovers in First Edition, which are limited to 250 units.
Usually car manufacturers present “First Edition” variants when a new model is released, but the current X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition were launched about 12 months ago. Besides the strange name, BMW has made some updates to differentiate the First Edition models from the base version.
Both models can be ordered in two matt finishes, BMW Individual Frozen Dark Silver and BMW Individual Frozen Marina Bay Blue, which perfectly complement the muscular design of both SUVs. Added to this are the M light alloy wheels in Jet Black with a star-spoke design, measuring 21 inches at the front and 22 inches at the rear.
BMW has also fitted the X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition First Edition models with a host of carbon fiber details, including the exterior mirror caps and the rear spoiler. Also standard is the carbon fiber M engine compartment trim.
As for the interior, the First Edition models are available in BMW Individual Merino leather in the exclusive Silverstone and Midnight Blue two-tone paint job. There are also black Alcantara inserts in the seat cushions and Sakhir Orange contrast stitching on the seats and door panels. The BMW Individual headlining in Alcantara and Midnight Blue enhances the uniqueness of the limited edition models. Rounding off the unique look are many carbon fiber interior accents and the ‘First Edition 1/250’ lettering.
In the technical part, there are no changes in the cars. Thus, both First Edition models are equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that develops 617 hp. and a torque of 750 Nm.
BMW has not announced pricing or what markets the X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition First Edition models will be available in.
