BMW iX1 electric cross first spotted in testsNovember 7, 2020
Motor1 has shared the first spy shots of the BMW iX1 electric compact crossover concept captured during testing.
Due to the dense camouflage, there is no way to say anything definite about the design of the upcoming novelty. At the same time, it is assumed that it will borrow some stylistic solutions from the “older” electric model – the iX3, including a muffled grille, aerodynamic wheels and blue accents to emphasize the belonging to an electric vehicle. In addition, it is quite difficult to distinguish the standard X1, which is also awaiting an update, from the iX1 concept, while the “Electric Test Vehicle” lettering on the driver’s door clears all the questions.
There is no information about the powertrain of the novelty yet, but one should not expect dramatic differences in this from the iX3. That is, most likely, the iX1 model will be offered with a single electric motor that will drive the rear wheels. As for the characteristics of the motor, then, for example, on the iX3 it develops 282 hp. and 400 Nm of torque and provides a top speed of 180 km / h. At the same time, for sure, the new model will receive a less capacious battery in comparison with the “older” electric car, therefore, this will affect the power reserve.
Speaking about the date of the premiere of the BMW iX1 electric cross, the German company is expected to present this new product at the end of 2022.
In addition, it was recently noted that production of a new BMW M3 has begun at the company’s Munich plant. It should be emphasized that this car of the German brand will appear in European dealerships in March next year.
