BMW is preparing a new engine for models X1, X2 and 1 SeriesNovember 17, 2017
The Bavarian brand BMW can soon bring new modifications of crossovers X1 and X2, which will receive a compact, but powerful power unit.
As reported by the portal Bmwblog with reference to its insiders, crossovers X1 and X2 will receive modifications 35i, and under their hoods there will be a modernized “turbo-quarter” with a capacity of two liters, which will receive the index B48A20T1 and a return of 300 horsepower. The same motor can receive also a hatchback 1 Series as it is intended for the cars created on the basis of chassis ULK.
However, experts fear that the power of the engine can be limited to 255 forces due to gearboxes, and at full force the engine will only work in future modifications, in the M Performance package. By the way, a similar motor is also used on the BMW 330i, which is based on the CLAR chassis, but other transmissions rely on it.
The same engine, according to experts, can be installed under the hood of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, which, unlike its “friends” 2 Series Coupe and 2 Series Convertible, will receive a front-wheel drive.
