BMW Introduces New Electric Crossover iX3April 25, 2018
The BMW company brought to the auto show in Beijing a prototype of an electric crossover, which in the future will receive a serial version called iX3. Competitors of the car will be Audi E-tron, Mercedes EQ C and Jaguar I-Pace. Production of the machine will begin in two years.
The design of the electric car resembles the X3. However, the concept received a new grille, some bumpers and other rims. The technical characteristics of the crossover are still kept secret. According to unofficial data, the total power of the electric power plant iX3 will be 270 hp. Without recharging the car can drive up to 400 km. For the car is available accelerated charging, which replenishes 80% of the battery charge in 30 minutes.
In total, by 2025, BMW plans to produce 25 serial electrified models. Of these, 12 will be equipped with fully electric power units. The power reserve of the cars will be about 700 km. In turn, hybrids will be able to drive exclusively on electric traction up to 100 km.
The plans of the German brand this year to implement around the world about 140 thousand cars with electrified power plants, by the end of next year in the plans of BMW to bring to the roads at least 1.5 million hybrids and electric cars.
Starting in 2021, electric cars of the Bavarian brand will be equipped with a third-level autopilot. In the same year, testing of vehicles equipped with unmanned systems of the fourth and fifth levels will begin.
