BMW Corporation has demonstrated 2 new “charged” crossovers X5 M and X6 M. Based on the third generation X5 and X6, the M and M Competition variations are more luxurious, stylish, and also have more technology and better performance than conventional models on which they are based.

The X5 M and X6 M received the same 4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and xDrive all-wheel drive. In normal versions of the M, the output is 600 hp. 750 Nm of torque. This is 33 hp more than the previous generation models developed. Due to these characteristics, the new X5 M and X6 M accelerate to “hundreds” in 3.9 seconds.

The Competition variation is driven by the same V8 4-liter engine with two turbines, the X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition give out 625 hp, while the torque remains the same – 750 Nm. Together with an 8-speed automatic transmission (standard M models have the same), the X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition can accelerate to “hundreds” in 3.8 seconds. The maximum speed is 250 km / h.

However, speed is not the only thing that distinguishes these new M models from their standard counterparts. The developers of the sports division improved the suspension by equipping the crossovers with adaptive suspension settings M and the standard Active Stabilization (both M and M Competition).

In addition, increased brakes are used: 395 mm front discs with fixed 6-piston calipers and 380 mm rear discs. The X5 M and X6 M are equipped with 21-inch M Sport rims. The motorist will have the opportunity to choose 3 different driving modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus.

BMW has improved not only the exterior of the new products, but also the interior, adding M. components. Thus, the new models were equipped with a special radiator grille, aerodynamic side mirrors and an enlarged air vent, as well as illuminated door sills. Of course, like the simple X5 and X6, the M models use the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with the latest version of the iDrive multimedia system, which has a 12.3-inch monitor.

The world community will demonstrate new items at the auto show in Los Angeles. At the same time, the start of sales is scheduled for next spring.
