BMW introduced a spectacular advertisement for the X5 armored crossoverMay 13, 2020
The Bavarian brand presented an interesting advertisement for the BMW X5 crossover in the armored version of Protection VR6. In order to show us the capabilities of the new items, the creators of the video decided to arrange a “race” between the bullet and the crossover.
How often do you see an advertisement for an armored crossover? We assume that most people saw such videos just a couple of times – these videos are not very popular. But it seems that the Bavarian company BMW has decided to change the current state of things by introducing a new commercial for the BMW X5 Protection VR6.
A 75-second video shows us the new X5 Protection VR6 crossover, which accelerates along a dusty track before starting to drive on asphalt roads, and then a shot is fired. Yes, in this video, the creators of the promotional video wanted to demonstrate the race between the armored X5 and the bullet.
In fact, BMW cannot win this race.
The performance of Protection VR6 can withstand hits from a 7.62-mm shell of an AK-47 assault rifle, a weapon that spits lead out at an insane speed of 715 meters per second. Meanwhile, this armored crossover has a top speed of 211 km / h.
But the X5 does not need to get ahead of the bullet in this race. The VIP passenger comfortably sits in the second row of the updated Protection VR6 crossover, and the driver performs several evasive maneuvers before turning the car “face” to the pool. We are not shown the consequences of a bullet getting into the X5, only the flattened bullet itself is shown, which is lying on the ground.
X5 Protection VR6 is based on the most powerful version of the M50i. Under the hood is a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 rated at 523 hp. VR6 in the name of the crossover indicates its level of armor. It is noteworthy that the additional weight has a slight effect on the dynamic characteristics of the SUV. This armored crossover can accelerate to 100 km / h in just 5.9 seconds, or 1.6 seconds longer than the regular M50i.
