BMW i8 GTR: now a true supercar with 540 V8 V8August 23, 2019
Many BMW fans would like to see the “real” i8 as a powerful car, and not a fashion toy with a hybrid installation with a three-cylinder engine. Hamofa Motor Sport built its own BMW i8 with a 4.0-liter engine and low weight.
The BMW i8 made a splash during the debut, but the main stream of admiration was poured on him due to the stylish design. The power plant has disappointed many. Nevertheless, for the company it was the right decision, which allowed to bring the brand into the electrified segment. As a power unit on a model with a supercar design, an electric motor was used, working in tandem with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine.
Many Bavarian fans would like to see the powerful V8 as the “heart”, and the Hamofa Motor Sport team built their own version of the BMW i8 GTR. Under the hood is a full-fledged 4.0-liter V8 engine with a maximum power of up to 540 horsepower. A similar engine was installed on the sports versions of the Z4 GTE and GT3.
Although the car looks like an i8, in fact it is not. Under the composite body is a unique platform with a spatial frame structure from Solution F. The car weighs only 1,100 kg, which will make it a worthy rival on the highway.
Now, BMW fans will think even more about the civilian version of the i8 with a powerful engine.
