BMW has started tests of the sports 3 Series TouringJune 29, 2018
As you might expect, the updated BMW 3 Series in the station wagon has much in common with the sedan. Both novelties can be officially presented in the framework of the Paris Motor Show, which will be held in October this year. It is expected that their sales can begin in late 2018.
It has long been no secret that the presentation of the new BMW 3 Series will take place very soon – according to rumors, we can see the novelty in a couple of months. Those spy photos that came to our office just a couple of hours ago show that in addition to the usual sedan, an updated compact family will receive a station wagon.
The photographs of the disguised practical novelty make it clear to us that the engineers of the Bavarian automaker already, as they say, “tried” on the car the aerodynamic elements from the sports division of M performance. The new 3-Series sports car will probably be presented as a 2020 model year car.
Carefully considering the captured prototype of the Bavarian novelty, we concluded that this station wagon is very similar to the similar model of the 5 Series.
The front of the car resembles the front of the sedan 3 Series, spy photos of which not so long ago were published by foreign media. The sports station wagon received the same radiator grille and aperture air intakes in the front bumper. Even the front lights are the same.
Now as for the rear part of the test prototype of the 3 Series station wagon. Similarities with the sedan continue – the same double round exhaust pipe system, the same rear lights. And of course you can not fail to note a fairly long roof, which smoothly descends on the back edge of the car.
We would like to point out that the updated 3 Series will not show us any radical changes in terms of design. Perhaps the biggest innovation will be the transition to the CLAR platform, thanks to which the overall weight of the car will be reduced. In the salon there will be a new digital instrument panel and a new generation of infotainment system. It is known that the interior will receive a completely new design, and the list of equipment will include several advanced driver assistance systems.
A few days ago, a test prototype of the new BMW M8 was photographed during the tests at the Nürburgring.
