Earlier it became known that BMW plans to mass electrification of all models. Cars will receive either hybrid or fully working on electric motors versions. The company’s goal is to achieve an average of 95 g / km CO2 emissions by 2020. Especially for this, BMW Group, together with Daimler, has begun developing wireless chargers for electric cars and hybrid cars. On the speed of charging car batteries, the new technology will not yield to cable analogues, but will surpass them in terms of usability.

At the moment, a working prototype of the new system has already been created. The device has an efficiency of 90% and can fully charge the batteries of the BMW i8 wirelessly in less than two hours. Developers plan to increase the power of the charging station to 7 kW, which will significantly accelerate the charging of plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles.
