BMW has prepared its first “hot” front-wheel drive hatchbackSeptember 17, 2020
BMW announced that it has completed testing a new sports variation of the 1-Series model with the 128ti index (“Turismo Internazionale”).
The car will be the debut “hot” hatchback of the German brand, which will acquire only front-wheel drive.
The BMW 128ti in the brand’s lineup will take place before the 306-horsepower M135i xDrive hatchback with all-wheel drive and will compete with the Volkswagen Golf GTI. The hot hatch will receive a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine with a capacity of 265 hp, which will be powered by a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car will be able to accelerate to 100 km / h in 6.1 seconds and accelerate to a maximum of 250 km / h.
The hot hatch will be equipped with a Torsen differential on the front axle, a sports suspension with a ground clearance reduced by 10 mm, sports anti-roll bars, and even reinforced brakes. As for the timing of the premiere of the novelty, it will debut soon, and taking orders for it in Europe will start in November this year.
In addition, it was recently noted that the German automaker BMW is developing an innovative technology for road recognition. It should be emphasized that the Bavarian specialists are assisted in the work on the new project by Tactile Mobility.
