The division of classic BMW cars spoke about the exhibit of the company museum, which has the highest mileage. This is the 501 sedan, which rolled off the assembly line in 1955, with a range of over 1 million km.
The new BMW 501 entered the Munich taxi park, where he worked for 15 years. There were practically no problems with it, and the factory 96-horsepower naturally aspirated 2.6 V8 engine and 4-speed manual transmission remained.
Later, the automobile concern exchanged a car for a BMW 1500 sedan. The 501st was restored and became an exhibit of the museum. Sometimes he takes part in various events, for which they installed license plates of a new sample – the first letters and numbers are identical with the original number.
The debut of the large sedan BMW 501 took place in 1952. He became the debut new model in the post-war history of the company. Until 1958, 3444 units were produced, but the German police liked the model so much that, on special orders, 51 more cars were released over a 6-year period.
