BMW began production of the 8-Series ConvertibleNovember 7, 2018
At the BMW plant in Dingolfing, the 8-Series convertible was launched in two versions.
BMW has begun mass production of the open version of the 8-Series sports car. The public premiere of the gig will be held in November 2018 at the motor show in Los Angeles, and its Russian sales will start in March next year. The model is built at the factory in Dingolfing (Germany).
Two versions of the new product come off the assembly line: the 840d and the M850i xDrive. In the first case, the car comes with a three-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel, giving out 320 hp. and 680 Nm of torque. Such a car accelerates from zero to hundred in 5.2 seconds.
The top-end version of the M850i xDrive is equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which develops 530 hp. and 750 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which can transmit thrust to both axles if necessary.
The convertible accelerates from standstill to the first 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. – for 0.2 sec. slower coupe similar modifications. The maximum speed is forcibly limited by electronics at around 250 km per hour.
The length of the car is 4843 mm, width – 1902 mm, height – 1339 mm, and the size of the wheelbase is 2822 millimeters. The novelty received a soft top, which can fold and unfold at speeds up to 50 km per hour. In the lowered state, the roof is hidden behind a special external panel, the structure of the surface of which and stitching are made in the same style as the front panel and door trim in the cabin.
