BMW announces the premiere of the serial M8 Gran CoupeMarch 21, 2018
The company BMW is developing a production version of the M8 Gran Coupe. The premiere of the four-door modification of the revived 8-Series will take place next year. This was told by the chairman of the board of directors of the Bavarian brand Harald Kruger during the annual report conference in Munich
The concept of the future model was shown at the last motor show in Geneva. Design novelties borrowed the basic stylistic elements from the prototype coupe 8-Series. The M8 Gran Coupe received trapezoidal daytime running lights, aggressive bodywork, large wheel rims, gold exhaust pipes and ducts made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
Technical characteristics of the novelty are kept secret. According to unofficial data, the car will be equipped with a 4.4-liter Biturbo V8 engine. The engine will work with the eight-speed automatic transmission ZF and the all-wheel drive system.
As for the serial version of the 8-Series, its premiere will take place this summer. The new G8 family will be built on the scalable CLAR architecture, which already underlies the five and seven. This architecture involves the installation of a variety of engines – from a two-liter four-cylinder to a 6.6-liter 12-cylinder unit.
The most popular modifications will be offered with six- and eight-cylinder engines, which are now available for the 5-Series and 7-Series. In addition, the line of engines will include a three-liter diesel with four turbines producing 400 horsepower.
