BMW announced the 2022 M4 GT3 race carJuly 21, 2020
The press service of the Bavarian brand has published several teaser images of the new BMW M4 GT3. The new 2022 model year, which is intended for racing, will receive an engine with a power of more than 500 hp
BMW Motorsport is starting the testing phase of the all-new M4 GT3 prototype. It is known that the novelty will receive a six-cylinder S58 engine with a capacity of more than 500 horsepower.
The first tests of the 2022 M4 GT3 will take place this week at the Bavarian company’s test center in southern France. It is reported that the tests are scheduled to end in 2021.
With a massive rear wing and flared fenders, the race car looks downright menacing when viewed from behind. If you look closely, you can see the safety cage in the cabin, in which only the most necessary elements remain – everything else has been removed to reduce the weight of the car.
A previously published teaser showed that the future race car will have a huge false grille, like those that will receive the less powerful M3 and M4. BMW M4 GT3 2022 join other BMW Motorsport racing cars – M2 CS Racing, M240i Racing, M4 GT4 and M8 GTE.
Development of the new M4 GT3 began back in 2019 with computer simulations, and in February this year, BMW Motorsport engineers began testing the engine. Initial tests of the vehicle were recently completed.
BMW M CEO Markus Flush is pleased to announce that the coronavirus outbreak has not interfered with the development phase. “All work on the new M4 GT3 is proceeding according to the original schedule.”
